Vista Entertainment Charity Golf Tournament
In 2008 Vista Entertainment Solutions hosted the Annual AIMC Charity Golf Tournament on Sunday 31 August at the Crowne Plaza Royal Pines Golf Resort & Spa. Congratulations to the 4 person Ambrose winning team from Goondiwindi - Leanne McCosker, Neil McCosker, Troy Burrows, Geoff Zimmerman.
Thanks to everyone who participated as your entry fees have been donated to charity and will be shared between Variety - The Children's Charity and the Motion Picture Industry Benevolent Association (Queensland) Inc.

Pursuing 3-D In A 2-D World
Since its inception (3-D technology has been around for almost 100 years!) and over the course of this time, 3-D has seen both highs and lows of consumer adoption rates. Simon Burton, Regional Director - Asia Pacific, Nielsen EDI presented an insight into what the future holds for 3-D films.
Immersive Cinema...Not Drowning, Waving!
Digital, 3D and BIG screens are bringing exciting new dimensions to movie theatres all over the world but are these initiatives going to break box office or break the bank? Sheding light into the production, finance and deployment issues behind these global cinema trends was a team of industry executives including Curt Behlmer, COO, Technicolor Digital Cinema and EVP Theatrical Services; Ross Entwistle, Managing Director, The Greater Union Organisation; Don Savant, Managing Director, IMAX Asia; George Scheckel, International Business Development Director, Christie, US; Peter Seagger, Vice President, International Sales, Cinema, Dolby Laboratories; Mike Selwyn, Managing Director, Vice President Australia/New Zealand, Paramount Pictures Pty and Michael Smith, Chairman, Sun Theatre and DCN. The session was moderated by Alaric McAusland, Group General Manager, ATLAB Image & Sound Technology.
AFACT Update & Education Campaign Launch
Adrianne Pecotic, Executive Director AFACT and Narelle Riley, Director of Communications for the IP Awareness Trust presented the achievements of the last twelve months of film and television industry supported "What are you really burning?" Consumer Campaign, and the launch of the Education Campaign.
Asia Pacific Screen Awards
Media personality Indira Naidoo presented a session on taking the films and film makers of the Asia-Pacific region to the World.

"Australian Star of the Year"
The Sydney Morning Herald & The Age "Australian Star of the Year" Award was presented to Gemma Ward for her first film THE BLACK BALLOON, about a family with an autistic son. The warm-hearted drama also starred Toni Collette, Erik Thomson, Luke Ford and Rhys Wakefield. One of the film's producers, Tristrim Miall, accepted the award on Gemma's behalf as she was currently working in the US.
Gemma joins a list of Australian industry luminaries who have previously won the annual Award including Geoffrey Rush, Eric Bana, the late Heath Ledger, Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman.

The gala final evening themed as a "Venetian Masquerade" on Thursday 4 September saw the following films awarded for the 2007-2008 year.
