AIMC Legends Retire

Freya and Graham - thanks for your many years of dedicated service!

On behalf of NACO, the AIMC, delegates, trade show exhibitors, suppliers, sponsors and volunteers, David Seargeant (NACO Chairman), Terry Jackman (AIMC Chairman) and I extend best wishes to Freya and Graham Tienan on their retirement, and heartfelt thanks for their many years of dedicated service.

Freya has made an immense contribution to NACO and its previous incarnation, the MPEAQ; and has served the Australian International Movie Convention, and its predecessors, since 1988.

The skills, knowledge and experience she has brought to this event over three decades has been invaluable.

From its humble early days at the ANA Hotel and Royal Pines, Freya has played a part in the growth and evolution of the movie convention into a first-class event which now proudly attracts in excess of 1,000 delegates annually.

In a broader sense, we thank Freya for more than forty years of fine service to the cinema industry, including her work in various capacities over the years with Roadshow Film Distributors and Birch, Carroll & Coyle.

Likewise, we wish to acknowledge Graham for his significant contribution to the movie convention over the past sixteen years.

Graham put his stamp on the AIMC Trade Show and his vigilant attention to security was always greatly appreciated.

We thank Graham for his service to the cinema industry as a whole since 1985, across various roles and in many locations for Birch, Carroll & Coyle, and later Loganholme Cinemas.

We hope Freya and Graham take great pleasure and pride in the knowledge that their efforts and expertise have contributed to what has become one of the world’s finest cinema industry conventions.

This is the end of an era and they will be fondly remembered by the delegates they have served so well; committees, suppliers, trade exhibitors and sponsors they have worked with and teams of volunteers they have very capably led.

We wish them both all the very best in retirement.

Michael Hawkins, Executive Director, NACO & AIMC
