About MPEAQ
The Motion Picture Exhibitors’ Association of Queensland (Inc.) was incorporated in 1956 following an agreement with the then unincorporated Queensland Motion Picture Exhibitors’ Association which was established in 1915. For over 90 years it has served the Queensland motion picture exhibitor community through:
- Representing and expressing the views and opinions of members within the Australian Film Industry;
- Representing and expressing the views and opinions of members to State and Federal Governments;
- Consideration of all questions connected with the business of Cinema proprietors and promoting or opposing legislative and other measures affecting such business;
- Obtaining information on any topics that have a practical interest for motion picture exhibitors;
- Informing members through regular newsletters of current issues relating to the Australian Industry as well as general business practice.
Host of the annual Australian International Movie Convention (AIMC).
MPEAQ Membership
There are three levels of membership of the Association:
- Ordinary members (any person, company or corporation owning controlling or carrying on the business of a motion picture exhibitor);
- Life honorary members (bestowed on a person as a mark of appreciation for services rendered to the Association and industry);
- Associate members (any person, company or corporation that carries on a business associated with the Motion Picture Exhibition industry; or any person who has experience in the film industry, but is no longer employed within the industry)
